Brief an Kolumbiens Präsidenten Iván Duque: Sobre las garantías para la movilización y la protesta social del 21 de Noviembre

Helmut Scholz hat am Mittwoch gemeinsam mit zwei weiteren Abgeordneten der Linksfraktion GUE/NGL im Europäischen Parlament ein Schreiben an den Präsidenten Kolumbiens, Iván Duque, gerichtet und sich für die Menschen eingesetzt, die am Donnerstag protestieren werden. Der Erhalt des Schreibens wurde von Bogota bestätigt.

Studenten, Gewerkschaften, indigene Gruppen und Oppositionsparteien haben für Donnerstag zum Generalstreik und zu Protesten aufgerufen. Auslöser sind Morde an Menschenrechtsaktivisten, die Arbeitsrechtsreform und der brüchige Friedensprozess.

Seit August 2019, als der konservative Präsident Duque die Regierung des Land übernahm, hat sich die Mordrate deutlich erhöht. Alle 72 Stunden wird in letzter Zeit ein Bauernführer, Gewerkschaftler oder Menschenrechtsaktivist getötet. Auch 170 frühere Mitglieder der FARC Guerilla wurden ermordet.

Respected Mr. Scholz:

We have received your communication in which together with Messrs. Stelios Kouloglou and Manu Pineda, request that full respect for the right to expression, mobilization and protest be guaranteed, and for course to the physical integrity and freedom of those who call for social protest or simply participate in it.

Faced with the protest of November 21, it should be noted that the President of the Republic indicated that “peaceful social protest is a right of Colombians, and it is a duty of the State, guarantee its exercise; but it is also everyone's duty to reject, censor, accuse, unveil and sanction, exemplarily, those who seek to appeal to violence, vandalism and pillage, to undermine the rights of Colombians. ”
